ABOUT US
Far too many young girls view their dark skin as an irreversible curse. We are constantly bullied by boys and girls, men and women who are of the same race. We are trained to take it all in, and not react to the bullying. The moment we respond to the bullying; we are deemed the angry black girl/women. Thus creating a detrimental effect, and insecurities on the mental, and physical health of many black girls/women. Imagine all the pain, hurt, and anguish that have come to dark skin girls over things no more genetically important than blush and eyeshadow. Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. D.A.W.N. Darkskin Ascending Women's Network emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2021, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support.
